Freeball terms and conditions

1. Who Freeball is for

Freeball is volleyball scoring and statistics software for school and club programs. It is sold to and used by organizations: a school, a club, or a team within one. Every Freeball account holder is an adult acting on behalf of an organization, such as a coach, a team manager, a program administrator, or a student manager who has been given an account by one of those adults.

Freeball is not for personal use by athletes, and it is not a service an athlete signs up for. Athletes appear in Freeball as roster entries created by their organization; they do not have accounts, and nothing here creates an agreement with them.

2. Your account and your organization

You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your password to yourself, and do not share a single account between people; add each person as a member instead, with the role that matches what they should be able to do.

Device tokens are the same kind of secret as a password. A token paired to a tablet can read your organization's full roster, names included, and can record matches. Revoke a token on the Devices page when a tablet is lost, sold, or handed on.

An organization's admins control who is a member of that organization and what each member can do. If you are an admin, you are agreeing to these terms for your organization as well as for yourself, and you are confirming that you are allowed to do that.

3. Athlete data and minors

Most athletes in Freeball are minors, and their information is the most sensitive thing in the app. The rules below are not optional.

• Your organization is responsible for having the right to put an athlete's name, jersey number, grade, height, photograph and statistics into Freeball. That means whatever consent, notice or district policy applies where you are. Freeball does not obtain that consent for you and cannot verify it.
• Public pages show jersey numbers only. An athlete's name appears on a public page only when an admin of your organization turns on "Show player names on public live pages", and even then it is a first initial and a last name, and only for your own athletes. Turning that on is your organization's decision and your organization's responsibility.
• Matches are private by default. A private match has no public page at all.
• Names and notes are never sent to an AI model. The between-set summaries and other AI-assisted features send jersey numbers and statistics only. The single exception is the roster sheet photo feature, where reading names off the sheet is the entire point: that photo is not stored by Freeball, and the request is marked so that the model provider may not keep it for training. Do not use that feature for anything other than a roster sheet.
• Do not enter information about an athlete that the app is not asking for. Freeball is a scoring app, not a place to record medical information, grades, discipline, or anything else about a student.

4. Acceptable use

Use Freeball to run your program. Do not:

• enter data about people your organization has no relationship with;
• use another organization's account, token, or data, or try to reach data that is not yours;
• probe, scan, overload, or reverse engineer the service, or work around its rate limits;
• scrape the public live pages in bulk, or republish another organization's athlete data;
• upload anything unlawful, or anything that infringes somebody else's rights;
• use Freeball to harass, single out, or publicly criticize a minor.

We may suspend an account or an organization that is doing any of the above, and we will suspend one that puts athlete data at risk.

5. AI-generated content is assistance, not advice

Some features produce text written by an AI model: between-set summaries, report commentary, and the roster read from a photograph. That text is a suggestion. It can be wrong, it can miss what actually happened in the gym, and it does not know anything the rally log did not record.

Read it before you rely on it. Do not treat it as coaching advice, as a medical or safety judgment, as a recruiting evaluation, or as an official record. Check a roster read from a photograph against the sheet before you save it. Decisions about athletes are yours.

6. Availability and no warranty

Freeball is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that the service will be available at a particular moment, that it will be free of errors, or that a score, a statistic, or an export will be correct.

The scorer app is built to keep working without a network and to upload afterwards, but a tablet can still be dropped, wiped, or lost, and a match that has not been uploaded lives only on that tablet. Keep the tablet charged, upload when you have a signal, and do not treat Freeball as the only record of anything that matters.

To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim arising out of your use of Freeball is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost data, lost matches, or lost opportunities.

7. Your data, retention, and deletion

Your organization's data is your organization's. We store and process it to run the service for you, and we do not sell it or hand it to anybody else except the infrastructure and model providers the app depends on to work.

We keep your data for as long as your organization has an account, so that a season's numbers are still there the following year. An organization's admin can ask us to delete a specific athlete, a season, or the entire organization, and we will do it. Deletion is permanent: a deleted match cannot be recovered, and the reports and public pages built from it go with it. Backups roll off on their own schedule, normally within thirty days.

Statistics that were made public while a match was public may already have been copied by somebody else, and we cannot pull those copies back.

8. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. Every version has a date, and this page always shows the current one. When we publish a new version, you will be asked to accept it the next time you sign in or open a page, and you will need to accept it before you can keep using the app. Signing out and reading the terms, the help center, and the public pages always works.

Older versions stay readable at their own address, so you can see what you agreed to before.

9. Contact

Freeball has no support email address. Questions about your organization's account, its settings, its members, or its data go to one of your organization's admins, who can reach us. The Members page in the app lists them.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Montana, without regard to its conflict of laws rules, and any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Yellowstone County, Montana.
